The next maker in my new series of Meet The Maker blogs is the lovely Lisa of Elsie Moss Botanical. I have stocked Lisa’s lovely soaps for many years now and added her bath salts and lip balms more recently too. We connected through our shared love of the seasons and nature and I love the smells and the shapes of her handmade soaps. My favourite one is Mother Earth, a lovely blend of sweet orange, cinnamon and clove, but they are all so beautiful and natural, gentle on skin and amazing smelling.
Lisa opened her own shop in November 2024 and has grown her business so much since I first started stocking her soaps. I really loved reading her answers to my questions and I hope you do too!

1. What’s your favourite plant or flower?
I love calendula and rose for the rosehips mostly (can I have two?!) because they both have magical powers and I love using them in my products, in fact they feature in most of them.
2. What’s your favourite tree?
Oak. I love big old oak trees – oh the stories they could tell!
3. Coast, woods, mountains or meadows — where do you feel most at home in nature?
I think right now I would have to say the coast as we’ve just returned from a trip to Pembrokeshire and the coastal paths were full of wild flowers. It was stunning.
4. What’s your favourite thing to make, and what drew you to it?
I love creating aromatherapy blends and using them in my products. I’ve always been drawn the the qualities of essential oils.

5. What made you start making?
It started with soap. I was gifted a natural soap bar years back and it started my natural soap obsession. I bought a book and taught myself how to make it and have been addicted ever since.
6. What does a perfect making day look like for you?
It would involve making a product I’d been planning for a while. It’s so exciting when you see something that’s lived in your head for so long finally come to life. At the moment, that’s candles and reed diffusers, I’ve really enjoyed developing my new seasonal range based around the Wheel of the Year.
7. What’s the last thing in nature that stopped you in your tracks?
The Pembrokeshire coast views. They were absolutely breathtaking.
8. Which season shows up most in your work, and why?
Probably Spring. It has to be my favourite season. I love seeing everything wake up and come back to life after a long, cold Winter.

9. What do you hope people feel when they buy your designs?
I hope they give people a feeling of calm, a moment to come back to themselves. My hope is that they provide little rituals that bring mini moments of joy throughout the day.
10. What are you working on right now, or what’s coming next?
I’ve just finalised a Rosehip and Calendula Remedy Balm. It’s beautiful – I can’t wait to get it out there and see what people think of it.
You can browse all of Lisa’s lovely handmade soaps, bath salts and balms in the online shop, including the new Litha soap and candle crafted especially for Summer Solstice.
On Friday 19th June, I am running a Solstice giveaway to win the new Litha soap, candle and diffuser as well as one of my Wooden Flower presses. Head to my Instagram to enter.
