A beautiful, smokey grey, moon-like saggar fired ceramic jug by Dartmoor-based artist Alison West, handcrafted from durable Cornish stoneware clay. Saggar firing is a distinctive technique where pots are placed inside a gas kiln within a container called a saggar, combined with locally sourced combustible materials such as pine cones, beech nuts, grasses, fungi, ferns, seaweed, and wood shavings.

As the kiln fires, these materials produce vapours that permeate the pottery, creating natural, unpredictable surface patterns that evolve until the piece has fully cooled, making every jug a genuinely one-of-a-kind piece. The high-fired pottery is sealed with a non-toxic, food-safe, water-based sealer, making it waterproof, stain-resistant, and dishwasher-proof.

Measuring approximately H7cm, tapering from 8.5cm at the base to 5.5cm at the top.
